"Mayor's Cup" Qingdao Primary and Secondary School Students Yacht Race ended Two returned overseas Chinese teenagers won the championship
As a traditional event of “sailing into the campus” held in Qingdao, the two-day " Mayor's Cup " the 6th Qingdao Primary and Secondary School Students Yacht Race ended in Fushan Bay recently. All the 18 medals went to the winners.
It is worth mentioning that the two "returnees", Zou Junzhe from Qingdao Experimental Junior High School and Hu Fengyi from NO.37 Middle School, won the men’s title and women’s title in wave-level races of junior school group respectively. As winners who had excellent performances in the previous “sailing into the campus ", this summer, with the help of the Qingdao Municipal Sailing (boats) Association (QMSA), Zou Junzhe went to Kiel, Germany with his companions for exchange; while Hu Fengyi went to Brest, France with her companions. Both of them grinned from ear to ear when standing on the top of the podium. And they both said in the interview that they had benefited from this precious studying experience.
In addition to adhering to the the strategy of “bringing in” in the field of developing teenagers sailing events, this year Qingdao also actively adopts the strategy of “going out”. Goran Petersson, President of the International Sailing Federation highly praised the Qingdao International OP Sailing Camp held during the 4th Qingdao International Sailing Week which has just ended. In addition, the QMSA also selected 22 excellent young yachtsman and 7 outstanding coaches this year to go to Kiel of Germany, Brest of France and Barcelona of Spain for exchange.
This year's "Mayor's Cup Regatta has attracted 373 teenager athletes to participate in the contest; and it sets a historic record both in participator number and competitive level, (Sun Fei)
