Qingdao's Olympic Village, core component of the Olympic Sailing Base project, has progressed well and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.

　　The Village lies within the Olympic Sailing Center and is adjacent to the sailing venue . A position so close to the competition venue is rare in previous Olympic games and will be of more convenient for the athletes.

　　Covering 100,000 square meters of land the Village is divided into domestic and foreign sections. The latter was used in last year's test match. 436 apartment rooms are being decorated. The village is scheduled to open to 600 athletes and officials from over 60 countries during August 7 to 27, 2008 while athletes of The Special Olympic Games for the disabled will move in during August 30 to September 20, 2008.

　　Apart from a residential place for the athletes, it also serves as a leisure place with services covering security, transport, catering, environment, guest reception, religious services, medical treatment and cultural exhibitions.
