According to the local power company, this year the Qingdao government will invest 1.5 billion Yuan in power network construction and increase 2.8 million kilowatts of variable capacity and 480 kilometers of electric transmission lines.

　　The loc al authorities will build, or repair 8 power projects in Qianwan, Konggang, and Jiaozhou each being able to transmit yearly 220 kilowatts of electricity, in addition to 14 similar projects of smaller scales. Projects for the last three years of the 11th five-year plan period will also be launched ahead of schedule, including the preparation for the 500 kilowatts power transformation station, the locating of another 3 electricity transmission stations for 2008, and the feasibility study of Qingdao's urban electricity network etc.

　　By the end of this year the transmission capacity of Qingdao is projected to exceed 17 million kilowatts with electric transmission lines totaling 2814 kilometes.
