The Lightening Control Center that was built up by the Qingdao Lightening Company was officially put into use recently.

The Municipal Lightening project commanding center have conducted lightening projects to Wusi Square, the Music Square, Huiquan Square, Qingdao Bay, Fu shan Bay, Taiping Hill and many other places alone the front sea area since 1996. The lightening facilities are scattered on the hills and at the top of buildings within a 30 kilometers beach area. It was not convenient to control the lightening devices before the establishment of the control center. Last July, a city urban administration bureau and the power supply company set up the lightening project company and established the most advanced lightening control system in China. The system can have remote control to all the facilities. So far the first phase of the project has been completed. When the second phase is completed by the end of April, another 11 lightening spots will be brought under remote control, and the third phase which controls more than 40 lightening devices will be completed by the end of 2003.
