The local government will build the coastline of Sifang, Licang and Chengyang into a "Water Park" residential area that can house close to one million people.

       Whereas the west coast of Jiaozhou is left for shipbuilding, bichemical and port industries, the east part will be mainly focusing upon tourism. The abandoned land to the west of Ruichang Roadwill soon turn into a dock for tourism. In addition, the construction of wastewater treatment plants has also been well under way with the 90% of the seawater along the Jiaozhou Bay to satisfy the Level-I water quality standard next year. By 2020, Qingdao will have approximately 50 tourist docks of various sizes.
