Orchestrated by the local Publicity Bureau, the Chinese Chorus Association, the Qingdao Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Qingdao TV and Radio Broadcasting Bureau, the first Qingdao International Chorus Festival ended successfully at the Municipal Conference Hall.

       The Chorus Festival attracted 55 choruses involving over 3,000 performers. After several rounds of fierce competition, the Qingdao Veterans Chorus, the Chorus under the Qingdao Dance Troupe and among other 8 groups won the gold medals.
