According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the PRC, and the China Brand Name Products Promotion Association, 17 Qingdao brands such as Hai'er, Hisense, Xiyingmen, and Liuhe have been chosen as the famous brands of 2007. Qingdao now has had 69 famous brands of the national level, being one of the cities in China with the most famous brand products.

       Generally speaking, Qingdao secured the largest number of brand names in a single year this year. The structure and scope of these products have also shown some new features. The number of individual businesses increased, accounting for two thirds of the total, Xiyingmen and Jifa, for example. More brand names from heavy and chemical industries joined the list. The total of 9 such brands strongly indicates that Qingdao's heavy and chemical industries have made substantial progress.

       Although Qingdao has many brand name products and is called the city of brand names, it still lags far behind Shanghai and Shenzhen. As for the influence and quality of these products, Qingdao still has a lot more to do.
