According to the local economic and trade commission, the competitive individual businesses have made headway with machinery manufacturing and agricultural products processing industries growing particularly fast. In addition, the service industry such as consumer goods retailing and wholesaling has also maintained a rapid pace of development.

       Among the top 100 individual enterprises, machinery manufacturers accounted for 24% of the total, 20 agricultural products processing enterprises made over 20 billion Yuan of sales, accounting for another 27%, and textile and clothing industries earned 5.7 billion Yuan, taking 8.4% of the whole.

       The change among the individual enterprises has been in pace with Qingdao's development strategy that stresses the advanced manufacturing, modern service and high-tech industries. In the second half of this year Qingdao will continue adjusting those competitive industries and increasing support for machinery, biochemical and agricultural products processing so that these competitive industreis can produce goods with high added value and advanced technology.
