A spotted deer escaped from the Chengde Imperial Summer Resort of Hebei province and strolled around downtown Chengde, Hebei province, until warmhearted residents reclaimed it last Sunday.

    The animal roamed the downtown with one of its horns partially damaged, they told local media.

    "Some passersby fed it with food as some were accustomed to such a thing after knowing the resort kept a number of deer for sight seeing.

    Resort officials took the deer back later that day after a local reporter urged them twice to check on whether or not one had escaped.
