Two close friends suffered serious injures after fighting to pay the bill for another friend's birthday banquet.

    The two men began brawling in a restaurant in Longgang district in the Shenzhen special economic zone, Guangdong province, around midnight on Sunday.

    Li and Deng were both drunk by the time they tried to settle the account and locked horns over the honor.

    Doctors had to put eight stitches in Li's head, while Deng suffered serious bone fractures.
