The Weiwu branch line, Qingdao section has been completed recently.
The Weiwu branch line, or the Haiyang to Jimo Expressway, has been a key component of the nation's Weihai-Wuhai Expressway, being at the same time a critical part of Shandong's road network. The 45 kilometers long road starts from the Jimo Toll Gate near the Rushan-Jimo highway, and ends at Wangyanzhuang village along the Jiqing Expressway. It connects quite a few local roads and is due to be incorporated into the overall road network of Shandong. After completion, passengers traveling between Weihai and Qingdao can save one hour in transit. In addition to shortening transit time amongst the cities on the peninsula, it helps to make the local road connections convenient and complete.
With its being put into use at the end of December, Shandong will then be having 4,000 kilometers of highway.
