China (qingdao) Olympics & Tourism Forum Held

¡¡¡¡The China (Qingdao) Olympics and Tourism International Forum beginning from May 16 to 18 will be held in Qingdao.

¡¡¡¡Organized by the Central Tourism Administration, the OMT under the UN, the Shandong Government, and the Qingdao local government. Th
e forum, with the theme of "passionate Olympics, harmonious tourism", seeks to borrow ideas from successful experiences in combining Olympic games with tourism and learn advanced world notions and effective methods for promoting the development of China's tourism industry.

¡¡¡¡Over 300 guests from home and abroad will attend the forum, including the assistant to the OMT secretary, Olympic officials, government officials from Spain, Korea, and Japan, and nearly 40 domestic and foreign news organizations.

¡¡¡¡QINGDAO'S ECONOMY ENJOYED RAPID GROWTH FIRST QUARTER

¡¡¡¡Qingdao' economy showed a stable and rapid growth rate in the first quarter of this year, with the GDP amounting to 76.1 billion Yuan, a 16 percent increase over the same period of last year. Meanwhile, the state revenue also increased rapidly. The local budgetary revenue was 6.8 billion Yuan, rising by 29%.

¡¡¡¡Based on the strategy of constructing a new socialist countryside, Qingdao government enhanced investment to agricultural industry. The total output of meat, egg and milk maintained a stable growth rate while the output of seafood decreased by 3.8 percent due to the reduction of fishery resources and adjustment of fishery structure. In terms of industrial production, large-scale industrial enterprises finished industrial added value, at 34.3 billion Yuan, 10% higher than that of same period last year. The benefit of the industrial enterprises were also high, with its comprehensive index increasing 28.93£¥ . The automobile industry accomplished the total production value, at 5.5 billion Yuan, climbing the highest by 88.97% among the eight group industries. In the meantime, the citizens' income rose noticeably. The disposable income per capita in urban areas was 4.67 thousand Yuan, climbing 14.3%. The farmers' cash income per capita was .32 thousand Yuan, up 14.9%. In addition, the communication and transportation, finance insurance, tourism and among other service industries grew rapidly. Driven by increased income, the prolonged holiday and tourism, the retail of consumer goods reached 27.9 billion Yuan in the first quarter, a 16.6% increase.
