The megawatt-level wind power unit development research center under the QLSPEE began operating recently, marking a comprehensive wind power equipment base being formed in Qingdao.

　　The program was the combined effort of the QLSPEE and the SYPU an d involved 400 million Yuan. It aims at producing wind power generating unit at the 1.5-megawatt level, all with the proprietary intellectual property rights. The phase I of the project covers over 2 hectares of land and is projected to produce yearly 200 units in 2008 with sales volume reaching 1.8 billion Yuan. Component manufacturers such as controller, revolving vane, electricity generator and so on will soon follow after the completion of the phase one of the project. A comprehensive wind power equipment base will be formed in Qingdao.
