As a key road construction project for the local government, the second Qingdao-Jinan Expressway is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of this year with the roadbed being already completed and other auxiliary facilities being installed.

　　Th e roadbed dress work has finished 10.8 kilometers since the Spring Festival and by October, the bulk of the project will be completed at the end of October. Unlike the previous constructions, the new project started with the urban landscaping work being first launched.

　　The supplementary Jinan-Qingdao Expressway is the second expressway between the two cities. The road within Qingdao totals 307.7 kilometers and passes through 6 cities of Jinan, Laiwu, Zibo, Linyi, Weifang and Qingdao. It links the north side of the Qingdao Bay Bridge, crosses the Jiaozhou Bay Expressway and Tongsan Expressway, goes through 3 cities, 7 towns and 65 villages and ends at the border region between Jiaozhou and Zhucheng. 42.2 kilometers long, two-way six lanes, and with designed speed being at 120 kilometers per hour, the supplementary expressway in Qingdao, after completion, will greatly ease the traffic on the Jinan-Qingdao line and bring convenience to Qingdao's west coastal areas.
