Qingdao Pushes Ahead Recycling Economy

¡¡¡¡Under the arrangement of the central and the provincial governments and the guidance of the scientific outlook, Qingdao will develop a conservation-minded society, push ahead the recycling economy, change the growth pattern, and create a new situation f
or scientific development with local characteristics.

¡¡¡¡Xia Geng pointed out that Qingdao would implement the central government's arrangements, and stick to the energy saving first policy in the course of economic development. The government will also attach importance to comprehensively using resources and develop the recycling economy that has begun paying off. Qingdao also has to fulfill breakthroughs in new areas and attempting to achieve the goals of 0.87 tons of standard coal, and a maximum of 30.3 cubic meters of water for each 10,000 Yuan of GDP. This is in addition to the 70% of wastewater reusing ratio for large-scale enterprises.

¡¡¡¡Xia Geng reiterated the importance of the recycling economy, white slime and chromium wastes treatment, the construction of ecological industrial zones, in particular. Qingdao now has been listed as the recycling city in Shandong. The local government is projecting to turn it into a model recycling economy city of the national level.

¡¡¡¡Xia Geng also stressed that Qingdao should foster industries with local characteristics. The treatment of used household appliances, tyres, and car components should be targeted. Resolving around "green Olympics", the local administration should carry forth the protection of tourist resorts and the preservation of mountains, and waters within the city. Law enforcement mechanisms should be established to help people raise legal awareness and understanding of the obligations.
