The Qingdao government will invest 2.8 billion Yuan in road construction in 2007. With Qingdao being at the center, the road network comprises high quality roads, and roads that connect the adjoining cities, city districts and counties.

　　Qingdao will build 181 kilometers of expressway this year and the total of the expressways in this city will be up to 705.6 kilometers. 800 kilometers of roads in rural areas will be repaired and 92.5% of the villages be connected by road. Qingdao will have altogether 14,000 kilometers of roads with the density amounting to 131.4 kilometers of road per square kilometers.

　　The local authority will also complete another 48 road and road repair projects this year, including the 370 million Yuan worth North Binhai Road project, the 300 million Yuan roadbed and bridge construction along the South Binhai Road, and the 316 million Yuan worth auxiliary facilities construction project in Jimo and Jiaonan, etc.
