The first Yellow River culture and arts festival open this September in Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province.

　　Titled "Maintaining the Healthy Life of the Yellow River", the festival aims to popularize Yellow River culture and bring attention to harnessing and prot ecting the river, China Radio International reported Thursday.

　　The festival will include business and trade talks, an international sand sculpture exhibition and cultural and artistic activities.

　　The 5,460-kilometer-long Yellow River, called the "mother river of China," originates on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, winds its way through eight provinces and autonomous regions, and empties into the Bohai Sea in north China.
