The failure of the main landing gear caused a tire to burst when a Shandong Airlines aircraft was trying to land at Beijing Capital International Airport yesterday.

The accident led to no casualties or damage but caused the east runway of th e airport to be closed.

The passenger jet, taking off from Lianyungang in East China`s Jiangsu Province, found the landing system failed when trying to land on the east runway of the airport at 10:04 am. The runway resumed operation at 11:42.
