| During the weeklong National Day holidays,
all the business retailers made sever competitions. The household appliances,
autos, clothes, food and beverage became the hot points for people's
consumption.
Statistics show that, during the holidays, all th
e local large shopping malls completed
a total sales volume of 285 million RMB, representing a year-on-year increase
of 22.5%. Some large supermarkets, such as Jusco and Carrefour, the volume
even made 50% increase over that of same period of last year. Some newly opened
shopping malls, including Wal-Mart, the Sunshine Shopping Mall and Hisense
Jinzuo Store, made the local retail business competition more severe. People's
consumption during the holidays mainly focused on household appliances, autos
and clothes. Price discounts were provided to the consumers in order to stimulate
more consumption. Meanwhile, the National Day holiday was the on-season
for both the tourists and the wedding ceremony. A lot of tourists swarmed
into the city, which made a rapid growth of the city's food and beverage service.
During the holidays, 980,000 tourists from outside Qingdao visited the city
with the local hotels' room occupation rate exceeding 85%. (top86)
