Qingdao has a 730-km-long coastal line. The coastal region around Jiaozhou Bay possesses rich tourism resources. The seaside road has become the axes of the coastal area for tourism development.

　　In order to take full advantage of the natural resources and the sceneries around the coastal region, the city has made the future development strategy of the tourism resources around the coastal region with the Seaside pedestrian road as the axes for the layout of city construction.

　　After 2 years' construction, the first phase of the seaside road has been completed and put into operation. The seaside road, with a total length of 282 km and a width of 25 meters, links the downtown area and the nearby region as well as the scenery areas together. The road, running across the city, is the axes for the layout of city construction. The project of Qingdao Seaside Road has won the approval of the state transportation administration, which will put investment into the construction and invite experts both from home and abroad to participate in the project plan and evaluation. The seaside road is expected to be constructed as an exemplary road both at home and abroad and to become one of the pillars to support the grand layout of the city construction. (top86)
