Early last week, the city construction administration held a meeting on taking concrete measures to implement the policies made by the working conference of the provincial government.

　　Vice mayor Lou Yongming pointed out that although we had made some achievements in city cons truction for the past few years, there were still big gaps between Qingdao and some advanced cities at the southern part of the nation. The procedures of infrastructure constructions should be streamlined. An efficient management mechanism should be established. Some policies and regulations concerning with constructions should be readjusted. The city government will build up a modern administrative management system, which will comply with the strategy of building Qingdao into an international metropolis, set up a new working style of the city construction administration with high efficiency and honesty. The city's building layout should be further streamlined in order to meet the demand of hosting the yachting competitions of 2008 Olympics. (top86)
