| Mayor Xia Geng stated that there were still about
1,800 days left for the preparations for the yachting competition of 2008
Olympics, when he made an inspection to the city Olympics preparatory office.
All the departments concerned should make concentrated efforts in the
preparation work so
as to make the Olympic yachting competition in Qingdao the
most outstanding one in history.
Xia listened to the reports on the issues of the preparations for
establishing the city Olympic yachting sports committee, sending officials to
Athens and Sydney for training and setting up water and meteorological
monitoring systems. He pointed out that the city government had set the goal of
making the 2008 yachting competition in Qingdao the most outstanding one. All
the departments concerned should make every effective effort in the preparation
work. They should adopt the successful experiences from abroad and establish an
efficient working information platform. Xia Geng also raised some requirements
to the departments concerned on the issues of the planning of the competition
venues, the operation planning, the projects' budget plan and financial methods.
