The city of Qingdao lies on the Jiaozhou Bay with beautiful landscapes. Along its over-730 kilometers o f coastline are scatteed 49 bays, including Qingdao Bay, Huiquan Bay, Taiping Bay and Maidao Bay by the city center. The natural conditions of wind, wave and water temperature make it an ideal city for sea sport events. Since 1950's, lots of national sea sports events started from Qingdao, incluing yachting, board-sailing, motor-boat, water-ski, radio-sailing. Qingdao is also home to the National Marine Sports School. As Mr.Paul Henderson,the Chairman of ISAF,said,"Qingdao is one of the most beautiful cities in Asia. It has the natural conditions for holding Olympic Sailing Reggata. I believe that it will become the best marina in Asia." Almost each year, Qingdao hosts international or domestic sea sports events, such as yachting, board-sailing or motor-boat. Thanks to its great advantages, Qingdao will be the host city of the 2008 Olympics Sailing Regatta.
