Between Oct.17 and 27, Qingdao held a grand business attraction activity in South Korea and Japan. During the activity, Qingdao delegation held presentations, visited enterprises and had negotiations to promote Qingdao to the two countries. Some business agreements and tendencies were signed in the promotion. The activity proved a great success.

A presentation held in Soul, South Korea attracted more than 400 participants from the business circle and the press. Mayor Du Shicheng addressed the presentation. He said Qingdao and South Korea have a large potential in cooperation, and cooperation should be strengthened in fields of household appliances, motor, ship-building, port and petrol-chemical. 11 agreements were reached on the presentation in Soul. With a general investment volume of 240 million us dollars, foreign capital accounted for 200 million dollars. Large investment included the Lingshan shipbuilding project in Jiaonan city, and the International ecologic garden project in Shibei District.

During his stay in Soul, Du Shicheng visited the Chinese embassy, and heads of some large companies in Korea. He exchanged ideas with them on strengthening cooperation.

The Qingdao delegation held other 3 large presentations in south Korea and Osaka and Tokyo in Japan to introduce the city's shipbuilding, spare parts for motors, petrol-chemical and Olympic projects. The delegation visited many enterprises there and made contacts with many people there.

The city's promotion raised concern widely in South Korea and Japan. The promotion materials were in large demand. Media including KBS in South Korea interviewed the promotion activity and considered that it was successful in demonstrating the good image of Qingdao.
