During the 7-day National Day holidays, 855,000 tourists visited Qingdao. This represents a year-on-year increase of 10%. The city's tourist industry realized an income of 710 million Yuan, a year-on-year increase of nearly 7%.

During the holidays, the tourist market still remained in good order although the number of tourists made a big increase. Averagely, over 120,000 tourists visited the city each day. The local hotel's room occupation rate exceeded 90% on a few days with most tourists coming to the city. A large variety of activities added extra fun to the holidays including the international hot-air balloon festival, the international beach festival, in addition to the Daze Mountain tourist's festival and fishing competition. The offshore sightseeing and the tour to islands have become the most popular traveling activities. Those who own private cars lead the trend of driving their own cars for traveling.
