Over 200 people found poisoned in Jiangsu Province

Central and local governments have called for all efforts to save the victims of a poisoning incident. The incident happened on Saturday morning in a town near Nanjing, the capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

Over 200 people in the town of Tangshan were found poisoned Saturday morning after eating fried dough sticks, sesame cakes and glutinous rice. The victims are students from a local middle school and workers on a construction site. A number of them have died.

Upon learning of the incident, the central and provincial governments immediately demanded that all??¡ìo-out efforts be made to rescue every poisoned person.

The Ministries of Health and of Public Security have sent special teams to Nanjing to help with the rescue work and investigation. Relevant agencies have set up special offices to answer the needs of victims' family members.

The victims have now been sent to 10 hospitals in Nanjing, where over 500 high-quality medical specialists are taking care of them. Most patients are now in stable condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
