(News from Xinhua Agency, April 19, Qingdao) On April 19, 14 foreign navy ships berthed at Qingdao harbor. By now, there are 17 warships from 12 countries arrived at Qingdao.
The foreign navy ships arrived on Sunday includes landing vessel Garcia D'avila of the Brazilian Navy, a missile escort ship from France, a missile escort ship from Bangladesh, supply ship Protector of the Canadian Navy, supply ship Success and patrol ship "Perry" of the Australian Navy, Russian Navy's Vayag missile cruiser and MB-99 integrated auxiliary ship, two missile escort ships from Thailand, a missile escort ship from Singapore, U.S. navy missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald, India navy missile destroyer Bombay and missile destroyer Granville.
Totally there are 17 foreign warships in Qingdao including the Sailing ship ARM Cuauhtemoc of the Mexican Navy, destroyer Badr and supply ship Nasr of the Pakistan Navy, which arrived at Qingdao on April 18.
Korea navy landing vessel Dokdo and missile destroyer Gang Gamchan, a missile escort ship and a supply ship of New Zealand navy are expected to arrive at Qingdao before noon of April 20.
A large-scale reception ceremony is expected to be held in the evening of April 20, which will mark the start of the 60 anniversary celebration of the navy of the PLA.
29 navy delegations from all over the world and 21 warships from 14 countries will attend this event. The warships mainly include destroyers, escort ships, petrol ships, landing vessels and supply ships etc.
The arrived foreign warships are berthed at Qingdao Harbor. It was seen that many foreign seamen bought IC cards and exchanged currencies at the interim banks, post office and mobile phone counters, some seamen bought some local gifts such as Cloisonne wares and Chinese teas etc.
"Tsingtao Beer" bar also attracted many seamen.
