(News from Qingdao Daily) Yesterday, the provincial service industries development work conference was held in Qingdao. The meeting introduced and had a high opinion of the experiences of Qingdao to boost new development of service industries. Standing commissioner of the CPC Shandong Committee, secretary of the CPC Qingdao Committee Yan Qijun visited some services providers together with several top provincial officials and some participating members.

    Standing commissioner of the CPC Shandong Committee, executive vice governor Wang Renyuan, assistant secretary general of Shandong Provincial Government Han Jinfeng, director of Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission Fei Yunliang, standing commissioner of the CPC Qingdao Committee, executive vice mayor Wang Shujian, vice president of Qingdao CPPCC and director of Qingdao Municipal Development and Reform Commission Liu Mingjun, and officials in charge from all the cities of Shandong Province attended the meeting.

    Yesterday afternoon, Wang Shujian introduced Qingdao's experiences in boosting the development of service industries. An official from Shinan District shared their experiences in propelling new development of service industries. Many participating members gave high evaluation of Qingdao and Shinan District multi-channel and multi-measures to boost the development of service industries. Representatives from Linyi City, Weifang City, Laiwu City, Shandong Foreign Trade Commission, Shandong Labour Department, Shandong Tourism Bureau and ICBC Shandong Branch also delivered speeches.

    In recent years, Qingdao sincerely implements the requirement of taking the lead to realize service-dominance industrial structure, takes powerful measures and prioritizes the development of service industries to build Qingdao into a prosperous, civilized and modern international city. The development of service industries becomes increasingly powerful. In 2008 the added value of service industry is 17.1%, 4% higher than that of 2003, ranking straightly No.1 in China among all vice-provincial level cities for the second year; the service industry realized 195.73billion added value, 2.8 times than that of 2003, accounting 44.1% of the whole GDP, 5% higher than 2003;major investments to service industries topped 100billion RMB, 3.2 times than 2003, accounting 49.6% of fixed assets investment of the whole city, 8.6% higher than 2003; the contribution rate of service industries to GDP, local taxation income and the newly-added jobs reached 55.5%, 68.4% and 82.1% respectively. The service industries have become the main power to boost the economic development and maintain social stability and safeguard people?s livelihood.

    Yesterday morning, Yan Qijun, Wang Renyuan, other provincial top officials and participating members of the meeting visited several service providers such as Polar Ocean World, Qingdao Software Zone Phase I, Qingdao International Cartoon Industrial Park, Velarium Complex, Zhongchuanglianyi Valley 2.5 Industrial Park, Hisense Plaza and the Olympic Sailing Center etc.
