There were a group of volunteers who work for the Clipper Race during the time of the opening of the Olympic sailing center to the public. Their sweet smiling and the warm service help the visitors to have a great view about the big yachts.
At the bank of the marina, there was a volunteer named DouNasha, who is responsible for interpreting and providing guidance for the visitors. The Sailing Committee recruited 70 volunteers for this Clipper event. They will work here for more than 5000 hours. These volunteers are mainly from the excellent volunteers who had worked for the 2006&2007 QingDao regatta and also the candidate volunteers recruited for the 2008 Olympic sailing competition
For the crews of the Clipper Race, the volunteers in Qingdao gave them a deep impression. On the day when awarding ceremony was held in Qingdao, the representatives of the volunteers presented the crews with nice souvenirs made by themselves, such as the red Chinese Knots, traditional paper-cut mixed with Olympic elements and the clipper yachts model printed with the head portrait of each skipper. The volunteers passed the happiness and the best wishes of the Qingdao citizens to all the crew. Facing the special gifts and the passionate volunteers, the crews were very surprised and grateful.
“Since Qingdao is being built as the sailing city of China, I want to join in and make some contributions. Compared to two years ago, I know more about sailing competition through the 2006 and 2007 Qingdao regatta” said Dou. In order to offer the visitors good service, the volunteers mastered a large amount of knowledge of the Clipper event in a very short time. DouNasha is looking forward to the Olympic Sailing Competition. She believes that with their sweet smiling and qualified service, the visitors will have a great time here in Qingdao.
