The Qingdao municipal government recently held a working conference to address

       food safety issues such as pork and vegetables quality.

       The vice mayor of Qingdao, Ma Shizhong, pointed out that the special campaign to address food safety problems is of political importance, in addition to being an opportunity for improving Qingdao's food quality. All departments concerned should set up concrete targets, clamp down on the key problems, and strengthen supervision. The check should not be restricted within shops and markets, but be extended to the producers, and the processing enterprises, so as to push ahead the construction of a long-acting food safety monitoring system.
