The 2nd Marine Ecosystem Global Conference was held recently in Qingdao

       Xia Geng, mayor of Qingdao, Kenneth Sherman, founder of the science of marine ecosystem, and Tang Qisheng, academician of the CAE and head of the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences attended the opening ceremony.

       Mr. Xia Geng said that revolving around the exploration of ocean resources and sea area environment protection, Qingdao has established the ocean environment protection system, put into effect a series of programs to improve the urban and sea environment, strengthened monitoring, promoted exchanges in the field of ocean science and educated people to protect sea environment and maintain a sustainable development. He hoped that the attendants could bring forward the latest achievements in marine ecosystem and leave for Qingdao some instructive ideas on how to build a healthy ocean environment.
