¡¡¡¡Ice run on the lower reaches of the Yellow River, China's second longest river, has alleviated as a result of rising temperature on Saturday in Shandong Province, where the river passes through and empties into the Bohai Sea.

¡¡¡¡People's worry of massive ice run has thus been reli
eved when the second cold spell of this year terminated.

¡¡¡¡The average temperature rose by two degrees Celsius at areas near the estuary, an official with the Shandong Provincial Flood Control Office said on Saturday.

¡¡¡¡Traces of ice runs are hardly seen in most of the waterway on Saturday, in contrast with the scene of ubiquitous ice runs on the mainstreams of the river below Jinan, capital city of Shandong, two days ago.

¡¡¡¡However, 11 sections, with a total length of 43 km, remain frozen on the lower reaches of the river, one km shorter than that on Friday.

¡¡¡¡The Yellow River, popularly known as China's Mother river, originates in Qinghai Province in the country's northwest and flows eastward from Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Henan, before emptying into the Bohai Sea.
