Du Shicheng inspects Taidong trade area renovation project

Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Du Shicheng inspected the renovation project of the Taidong Commerce and Trade Area and the project for Urban Construction of the Huiquan Bay.

Du demanded the concerned department to accelerate the construction of the key projects, upgrade thei
r level of urban construction and make further efforts to meet people¡¯s growing cultural and material demands.

Du Shicheng arrived at the locality at No. 3 Taidong Road Pedestrian Street to inspect the environmental renovation to the Taidong trade and commercial area. The area is one of the city¡¯s 4 major commerce and trade zones of Qingdao, and the most important part of Shibei District. To upgrade its level and further promote its rapid growth, Shibei is conducting an overall rebuilding of the environment. The undergoing construction features on painting colorful corridor, demonstrating night views, and creating a better traffic environment.

Du Shicheng praised the district¡¯s work on the environmental renovation. He asked the district to further enrich the cultural content in the commerce and trade area, and build the area as a model for the whole city. Other districts are asked to learn from the practices of Shibei by combining their own characters.

At Huiquan Square, Du Shicheng learned the details of the urban renovation there. The project consists of 7 functional areas, kicked off in Oct, 2002. It covers the bathing beach, theme view area, adjacent areas to No.1 Stadium, sports area, restaurant area and area for children and senior citizens. Constructors have been doing finishing touches to the renovation project.

Du Shicheng said the renovation has been successful.
